Frederick Graff Sr. is credited with the invention of the fire hydrant as we know it today. Ironically, there is no record of his patent of the fire hydrant because in 1836, the U.S. Patent Office caught fire and all the patents within were destroyed. "Accept that there are things in this world we can never explain... That is the irony of life. It is also the beauty of it."
